How to Check for Testicular Cancer in Three Easy Steps

Did you know that April is National Testicular Cancer Awareness Month?  While testicular cancer might be an uncomfortable subject for people to talk about, it is important to be aware.  Early detection can prevent the cancer from spreading to other areas of the body and increase a man’s survival rate.  If the cancer is localized in the testicles, a man’s survival rate is around 99%.  Once the cancer spreads, survival rate decreases to approximately 73%. *

Since early detection is important, a monthly self-exam is recommended to look for any symptoms of testicular cancer. You can perform a self-exam in just a few minutes by following these three simple steps from the Testicular Cancer Society:


If any irregularities or changes are found, consult your doctor immediately. While there are many non-cancerous conditions that can cause similar symptoms, only your doctor can provide you with an accurate diagnosis.
