Dr. Brian Larson

Dr. Larson has lived in Birmingham since 1964, and attended Georgia Tech and Auburn University, graduating from Auburn in 1977 with a BS in Biology. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical School, and after an Internal Medicine internship at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, he returned to UAB and completed his training in Radiation Oncology in 1987, serving as chief resident during his final year of training. He has worked in Birmingham at Trinity Medical Center (Baptist Montclair), Baptist Princeton, and Medical Center East since 1991.

He is an active member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, the Jefferson County Medical Society and the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) and the Alabama Society of Radiation Oncology(ASRO). He is certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology. He has had an interest in the treatment of prostate cancer, assisting in the development of the Prostate Brachytherapy (seed implant) program at Baptist Montclair in 1996. He has been affiliated with the Urology Centers of Alabama with the development of the radiation therapy department using IMRT/IGRT for the treatment of prostate and other urologic malignancies with radiation therapy.

In August 2011 Dr. Larson was recognized by the American Cancer Society with their highest honor receiving their “2011 Life Inspiration Award” for his compassionate work with cancer patients.
