DuoLith

What is DuoLith Shockwave Therapy?

Despite the name, shockwave treatment does not have anything to do with electricity or electric shocks. Rather, this form of treatment uses low-intensity pulsed acoustic energy waves that are applied to different treatment zones on the penis and on the perineum to help improve overall blood flow in the patient’s body and increase their natural erectile function. It can also effectively treat pain associated with Peyronie’s disease and chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS).

What are the benefits of DuoLith Shockwave Therapy?

DuoLith Shockwave Therapy is a great treatment option for patients with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction who are interested in an alternative to medication and invasive surgery procedures. It is also beneficial to patients who would prefer not to undergo anesthesia during their treatment. The procedure bears little to no side effects and occurs in short 10-15 minute sessions, making it a great option for those looking for a simple, efficient treatment procedure.

Who is an ideal candidate for DuoLith Shockwave Therapy?

The ideal candidate for DuoLith Shockwave Therapy is someone with mild to moderate ED or Peyronie’s disease who does not respond well to medication or does not feel comfortable taking medication and is looking for an alternative to invasive therapy or surgery options.

What should patients expect when undergoing DuoLith Shockwave Therapy?

The procedure takes 10-15 minutes. The treatment area will be covered to ensure good shock wave transmission, with the energy applied at the patient’s personal comfort level. The treatment should be painless, but if any discomfort is felt an assistant can reduce the energy level to ease the discomfort.

What should patients expect following treatment?

Most patients see improvements with the first 3-4 treatments. Studies have shown that shockwave treatment poses little to no side effects, and approximately 60-70% of patients report positive results and noticeable improvement with their ED symptoms that had sustained for as long as 1-2 years after their first treatment session.
